About Clinton, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Clinton, South Carolina started out as a small crossroads known as "Five Points," originally settled in the mid-18th century by Scots-Irish immigrants. After the railroad arrived in 1852, the area began to grow to the point where it was incorporated as a town. At this point it was renamed after Henry Clinton Young, a man who helped to lay out the streets of the expanding town. Clinton had a thriving cotton mill industry that got started in the 19th century, but, as is the case with many small southern towns, lost this industry during the latter half of the 20th century.

Today Clinton is a city of about 8,500 people, and is home to Presbyterian College, which was founded in 1880 by Presbyterian minister William Plumer Jacobs and today enrolls some 1300 students. Another local attraction is Musgrove Mill, once the site of a Revolutionary War battle and now home to conference facilities and a premier 18-hole golf course that has hosted neatly every event sponsored by the South Carolina Golf Association including the PGA South Carolina Open. The Clinton Museum, housed in the historic Griffin House, contains four galleries whose changing exhibits tell the story of the community and surrounding area. Clinton has its own TV station, Laurens County Community Access Channel ACCESS 15, and a weekly newspaper called The Clinton Chronicle, which was established in 1900.

Clinton's climate is temperate, with mild winters and lovely warm springs and falls. Summers do tend to be hot and humid, though, which is typical of the region.
