About Laurens, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Laurens, South Carolina was named after Henry Laurens, who served as President of the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary War and helped to negotiate the Treaty of Paris that led to the war's end. The town was chartered under this name in 1873, although it had been established in the mid-18th century and for some time went by the name of Laurensville. Today this city of just over 9,000 residents is the county seat of Laurens County. Although Laurens at one time had thriving manufacturing, textile and glass industries, today all of the manufacturing plants within the city itself have closed their doors. Instead, the city's major employer is a Walmart distribution center located outside of town.

Laurens has a number of attractions that appeal to visitors, including the historic courthouse, built in 1840, the 1839 Simpson House, once home to South Carolina governor William Dunlap Simpson, and the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, which dates from 1846. Every October brings the celebration known as Squealin' on the Square, two days of live entertainment, carnival rides, crafts, animals, classic cars, antique tractors, fireworks, and the state championship BBQ cookoff. April brings warm, sunny days along with the annual Craftin' on the Square craft expo. A farmers market is held downtown every Saturday morning from June through September. In wintertime temperatures are still relatively mild and snow is practically unknown, but the town still gears up for the holidays with the Christmas on Main lights display, Christmas parade and trolley tours.
