About Abbeville, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Abbeville, South Carolina, the county seat of Abbeville County, was first settled in 1758 by a group of French Huguenots who named it after their hometown in France. By 1832 it was officially incorporated as a municipality, and today is a small city with a population just over 5,000. Abbeville is perhaps best known for the important role it played during the Civil War.  On November 22, 1860 a meeting on what is now known as Secession Hill marked the state's decision to secede from the Union, and on May 2, 1865, Jefferson Davis retreated to Abbeville to officially acknowledge that the Confederate States of America were no more. The Burt-Stark Mansion, the home in which this acknowledgement was made, is today one of Abbeville's premier tourist destinations.

In addition to Civil War history, Abbeville offers a number of other attractions including the Abbeville Opera House, which attracts some 17,000 people per year to its dramatic productions, the 9-hole, semi-private golf course at the High Meadows Country Club, and the newly-constructed Prysmian Copper Wire Tower, which at 373 feet high and 30 floors is the tallest building in the state of South Carolina. Walking tours of Historic Abbeville are popular year-round, as the region's mild, snow and ice-free winters make them conducive to outdoor activity. In springtime Abbeville is particularly lovely, and the first weekend in May brings the Abbeville Spring Festival On the Square. This annual festival offers an antique car show, rides, games, live music, a craft show, and a 5K run/walk.
